Learners urged to choose Learn Safe, Drive Safe

29 April 2015

Learner drivers are being encouraged by Derby and Derbyshire Road Safety Partnership to choose a Learn Safe, Drive Safe instructor.

Partnership manager Claire Molyneux said: “Learn Safe, Drive Safe is designed to cut the number of crashes involving young drivers by offering them extra support before they pass their test. Driving on your own is different to driving with an instructor – and Learn Safe, Drive Safe scheme helps you prepare for life beyond your driving test.

“Our specially-trained driving instructors won’t just teach you how to handle your car and deal with traffic when travelling from A to B. They’ll make sure you have the skills to drive safely while navigating through everyday life - for example, when you have friends in the car, feel tired or are running late.

Claire added: “All this will be provided at no extra cost to you – and it won’t make your lessons longer or reduce the time you spend driving.”

To find a Learn Safe, Drive Safe instructor, visit the Learning to Drive section (opens in a new window) of this website.

Driving instructors who want to join the Learn Safe, Drive Safe scheme can get FREE training from the road safety partnership. For more information about the scheme call Andy Adlington on 01629 538067 or 07827 308480.

The Learn Safe, Drive Safe scheme was originally created by South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership and has already been introduced in several other areas of the country.
